Located in the Tanglin Halt hawker centre is Aw’s Signature Minced Pork Noodles, opened just a few months ago by a Gen-Y hawker, Terence. It isn’t easy quitting your daily routine job to try your hands at being a hawker. It takes alot of effort and hard work and sweat, to make a yummy bowl of minced pork noodles.

The items served at Aw’s Signature Minced Pork Noodles varies from it’s competitors by serving the noodles with a variety of ingredients. Take for example the Signature Noodles Dry $5 / $8

It is served with Fishball, Fried Meatball, Porkball, Quail Egg, Prawn, Fish Dumpling, Pork Slices, Button Mushrooms, Liver and loads of lard which by the way is self-service!

That’s alot of ingredients in one bowl. Definitely enough to satisfy your demanding tastebuds. For me, I was delighted to see a fried meatball and quail egg in the mix. The noodles tasted decent but together with the array of ingredients, it’s no wonder there was a non stop queue at 730pm, even when Aw’s Signature Minced Pork Noodles was about to close at 8pm!

Next, we tried the Shredded Chicken Hor Fun $3/$5.

I loved the thin hor fun and the generous service of minced pork and shredded chicken, not to mention the mixture of mushrooms too. Take note, the chilli is a tad spicy and gives this hor fun a refreshing kick!

An interesting item on the menu is the Fish Maw Bee Hoon $4 / $6.

Glossy like thin bee hoon covered in a thick sauce, served with legit fish maw, also with shredded chicken, minced meat and mushrooms. Damn shiok! The flavours I gathered was mainly sweet with a lingering spiciness from the fresh chilli set atop the dish.

The dish that really caught my attention was the Braised Pork Noodle $4 / $6.

Just look at the sizeable chucks of succulent meat, covered in a thin layer of braised juices. The quail eggs again, are here to light up my tastebuds. This has got to one of their best sellers, because it was my favourite dish! The meat was well seasoned and had a great melt in your mouth texture.

Last but not least, we tried their Fish Ball Soup $3.

These are bigger than your average sized fishballs, because they’re handmade! They were bouncy and light in bite texture, the soup itself was bursting with meaty flavours and really enchanced the taste of the fishballs.

Overall : I see now, why there’s a non-stop queue at Aw’s Signature Minced Pork Noodles, Terence is truly a genius at creating a good combination of ingredients with each bowl of noodles! Definitely do give it a try if you’re in the Tanglin Halt/Commonwealth Drive area. Also don’t go too crazy on the chilli, you’ve been warned!

Thank you Eunice and Terence for the invite!
